About TB3 NDT Consulting

What is NDT? NDT stands for Non-Destructive Testing, which is a group of analysis techniques used to evaluate the properties and integrity of materials, components, or structures without causing damage or altering their physical properties. NDT is commonly used in a wide range of industries, such as aerospace, automotive, construction, manufacturing, and oil and gas.

The goal of NDT is to detect and evaluate any flaws, defects, or abnormalities that may affect the performance or safety of a component or structure. Some common NDT techniques include:

Ultrasonic Testing

Uses high-frequency sound waves to detect flaws or measure thickness.

Radiography Testing

Uses X-rays or gamma rays to inspect the internal structure of materials and detect flaws.

Magnetic Particle Testing

Uses magnetic fields and magnetic particles to detect surface and near-surface defects.

Liquid Penetrant Testing

Uses a liquid penetrant and developer to detect surface cracks and other defects.

Eddy Current Testing

Uses electromagnetic induction to detect surface and subsurface defects.

Visual Testing

Involves visual inspection of the surface and structure of materials and components.

NDT can provide valuable information about the condition of a component or structure, allowing engineers to identify potential issues before they become serious problems. This can help reduce downtime, improve safety, and ultimately save money for businesses.
